What is it

Millions of barriers, gates, garages and other access control devices worldwide open by a simple phone call from an authorized number. This is called dial-to-open — one of the most common access control methods globally. GateOn automates this: the app places the call at the right moment so you don't have to. Just drive up and your barrier, gate or garage opens by itself. You can also share access with guests via QR code, and enable automatic opening when approaching by geolocation. No new hardware needed — if your device already opens by phone call, GateOn works with it.

Key features

Geofences and auto-dial

Set a marker near the object and pick a radius. The app places the call as soon as you enter the zone — even when the screen is off.

Adaptive battery mode

Far from the object — once every 1-2 minutes. As you approach, the interval shortens to 2 seconds. Doesn't drain the battery.

Guest access via QR

Share an invitation — your guest scans the QR and their phone can open your objects remotely. Revoke access in one tap.

Auto hang-up

After connection the call automatically hangs up after the configured number of seconds — convenient so you don't keep the line.

Confirmation modes

For each guest pick: auto-call, notification, or manual confirmation per request. Full control over who and when opens.

7 interface languages

English, Русский, Francais, Espanol, Portugues, Deutsch, 中文 — switch right in the app, with the flag in the header.

How it works

  1. Install GateOn Download the APK with the button above and install. Grant location and call permissions — the app will ask for them when needed.
  2. Add your object Enter the phone number of the barrier, gate, garage or other dial-to-open device, or pick from contacts. Give it a name like "Parking", "Gate", "Garage", "Office".
  3. Place a geo marker Walk up to the object, tap "Add geo marker" and pick a radius (10-100 m). GateOn will dial automatically when you enter the zone.
  4. Invite guests (optional) Create an invitation — the app shows a QR code and a link. The guest scans it with their phone and their GateOn gets access to your object.

Frequently asked questions

What kinds of devices does GateOn work with?

GateOn works with any device that opens when it receives a phone call from an authorized number. This is known as "dial-to-open" access control — a very common standard worldwide. Parking barriers, driveway gates, garage doors, industrial gates, GSM controllers and drives — millions of such devices are installed globally. The device has a SIM card inside and a whitelist of authorized phone numbers. When it receives a call from one of them, it opens. GateOn simply automates that call.

Do I need to install anything on the gate itself?

No. If your barrier, gate or garage already opens on a phone call — that's enough. GateOn doesn't add anything to the automation, it just dials for you, but at the right moment.

Does it really work in the background? Won't the firmware kill it?

It runs in the background as a foreground service with a notification in the shade. To prevent Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo firmware from killing the service, the app has built-in hints: turn off battery optimization and enable autostart for GateOn once — and it works on its own afterwards.

What does the app send to the server? Do you see my numbers and location?

No. We do not receive any phone numbers, geo markers, or your coordinates. Objects, their numbers and zone coordinates are stored only locally on your phone, in the app's encrypted preferences. Adaptive GPS tracking and the call decision also work strictly on the device — there's nothing for the server to know. The server is only involved in one case: guest access. Then, only the command "open object N" is passed through the server from the guest to the host, and the actual call is placed by the host's phone from its own number.

How much does it cost?

Free. No subscriptions, no signup, no account binding, you don't need to enter an email or phone number.

Is sharing a guest QR safe?

Each QR is a unique USER_KEY tied to specific objects. You can revoke any key with one tap, and the guest immediately loses access. It's impossible to use someone else's key as your own — the app blocks that.

Which Android versions are supported?

Android 8.0 (Oreo) and above. On older systems background geolocation works differently and is not supported.
